Week of 11/30/20
This week in Fundations we will learn two new glued sounds. They are am and an. Both m and n are nasal sounds. Due to this quality m and n sometimes distort a vowel sound, especially a. The a is still considered a short a in am and an. These glued sounds should be boxed when we are marking the words. The trick words for this week are do, does, from and have. Please be sure to practice your spelling words nightly. They can be found on my Weebly page - https://mrspresbrey.weebly.com
During Wonders this week we will talk about where animals live together. The high frequency words are eat, no, of, under and who. If you are reading with your child at night look for these words in the stories you read. The special vocabulary words are depends, habitat, hibernate, tolerate and tranquil. We will orally discuss these words as a class.
In math this week we will work on using the associative and communities properties to make ten with three addends. It is very important that your child knows all of the combinations to 10. An example of the problems we are doing is
6 + 5 + 4 =
6 + 4 = 10 so 10 + 5 = 15
Thank you so much for all of your help!
Have a great week!
